Writing about Writing: How I Converse with My World

I like my blog. It’s my space and I try to keep it honest and stress-free. When it comes to my “rules” for blogging: 1. I do it for myself first! and 2. Be Yourself. I don’t have rules about how often you should blog, a niche, quality content– I generally blog what I feel when I feel it and let the content speak for itself. I can’t put those restrictions on my writing, if I did, then I would just quit writing. Globetracer is going on 4 years old, and it’s probably my most longest commitment to writing consistently. Sure. I am like most writers; I have blank journals lying all around my apartment. However, I usually write on paper what I cannot share publicly. That tends to be short-lived. I am a believer that some things are sacred so I don’t blog about my romantic relationships. Not directly. Paper is where most of those angst-ridden emotions end up.

Sometimes I wish I had more to write about. I wish I had an awesome trip planned monthly. However, that’s not where I’m at right now and I’m trying to accept that. As sad as it is. I’m “adulting” right now, which means I’m learning how to live life contently working, paying bills, complaining, waking up early, eating out, having adult conversations and trying to find my happy place. Seems like if I could or wanted to write everyday, 98% of the content would be about work. And that would be boring. But that would be true. It’s where I’m at right now.

I’m still thankful. I have a handful of consistent readers, and even those who breeze through usually can connect to something I’ve blogged about. I love comments. I enjoy the “likes.”  I like the community I’ve built here. I want to start finding more blogs to connect with, and I want to start doing more vlogs driving my car around the City. I have a passion for helping those soon-to-be-graduates in Speech Pathology with what lies ahead in their journey to full licensure. I also want to start opening more about mental health issues, including a new step stone, which includes a psychiatric evaluation happening this week. Lots of firsts. Lots of emotions. Lots of maturing to do. Lots of content to expose. Stay tuned.

10. I started off the year filing applications for graduate school, and then experienced Rejection. Followed by the redeeming power of Acceptance. {Jan-May 2012}

9. I finished my pre-req’s in Speech Language Pathology! {May 2012}

8. I learned of my acceptance into my dream school, including my selection to receive a grant fellowship. Preparation began for subsequent move. {May- July 2012}

7.  I woke up and was suddenly over this guy. I turned 27 years old and worked 2 jobs for the first time (full time and part time). {July 2012}

6. I cut my hair, again. {August 2012}

5. I indulged in life in a new city and met fellow bloggers and people from Twitter. {May-September 2012}

4. I started a new relationship. {November 2012}

3. I survived my first semester of graduate school and celebrated the end of the semester by attending a Wig Walk. {Dec. 2012}

2. I will be splitting the holidays with both parents in two different states. My first time ever traveling this much at the end of the year, but I’m thankful! {Dec. 2012}

1. I learned the importance of believing in yourself! Even when you don’t feel worthy, or smart, or beautiful…don’t be so hard on yourself. You were made for this moment right now, so seize it!

2012: Year in Pictures

Tica Wan No: Do you try new foods?

This was my first time trying Himalayan food. The menu at this particular restaurant covered certain areas: Tibetan, Bhutanese and Nepali regions. I never did find the official name of the dish, the small town restaurant I visited did not have a website or online menu, but in my research I did discover that stews and stir-fried noodles are very popular dishes. Commonly used flavoring ingredients are garlic, ginger, cumin, coriander, turmeric, nutmeg, bay leaves, black pepper, chilies, onions, cilantro, and scallions.

TICA WAN NO: How do you feel about trying new foods? Do you jump at the chance, very rarely do it or are somewhere in between?

Truths from ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’

Let her be called...Lolita!
  • Talking apes are not so scary when they are digitalized.
  • I did not evolve from a primate.
  • Testing on animals for our own benefits is wrong!
  • Everybody wants to belong.
  • Baby chimps are almost cuter kittens.
  • Every baby deserves a Daddy.
  • Eventually, we must all carve out our own paths.
  • Home is not necessarily a place. It’s a state of being where you find peace, security, and acceptance.

It’s a must-see movie! I might even go back to the original Planet of the Apes (1968) and see how far the movie has come!
